Twenty-five women-led businesses, from tech to food, joined WeGrow to strengthen and expand across the island of Ireland. They left with the thing every growth programme chases and few deliver: clarity and control over their business, and the majority went on to raise funding.
The Programme
WeGrow is an all-island programme, led by InterTradeIreland, supporting ambitious women-led SMEs aiming to strengthen and expand their business across the island of Ireland.
Through peer learning, strategic reflection, and tailored expert support, the programme helps entrepreneurs identify opportunities and build a clear, actionable plan for sustainable growth.
The Challenge
Growth programmes face a familiar problem: participants leave workshops energised, with a strategy document, and six weeks later the document is in a drawer and the day-to-day has taken over. Strategy delivered as an event rarely survives contact with a busy SME owner's calendar.
WeGrow needed a delivery vehicle that would make strategic thinking stick: something participants would work in, not just be taught about, between sessions and beyond the programme's end.
The Solution
growthsprint. was deployed as the core business development and participant learning vehicle for the programme, with 25 participants building and executing their growth strategies on the platform. The cohort came from across all of Ireland and spanned a striking range of sectors, from tech to lifestyle, consulting to food. The same canvas and the same methodology worked across all of them: every business, whatever its market or geography, needs one clear direction and a plan built around it.
Every participant mapped their entire business on a single Blucanvas page: eleven strategic zones covering targets, external environment, and internal operations, all visible and connected. Rather than writing a strategy document, participants built a living strategy:
One clear direction. Each participant defined a Single Strategic Objective (SSO) that is specific, time-bound, and phase-appropriate, with the platform's AI advisors coaching them toward sharper focus rather than generic goals.
Strategy tested against reality. Participants assessed their Strategic Market Fit: whether their direction, timing, differentiation and expected outcomes actually fit the market they operate in, not just whether their product has a market.
Execution, not intention. Strategies translated into 90-day sprints on the Sprintboard, with actions, owners and checkpoints at days 30, 60 and 90.
Mentor-supported momentum. Mentors worked alongside participants inside the same canvas their strategy lived on, reviewing progress, shaping sessions, and keeping each business moving between touchpoints.
The Mentor Model
Diane Roberts, a lead mentor on the programme, worked with participants through growthsprint. itself. Mentors could see each participant's full strategic picture at a glance: canvas, objective, sprint progress. Every session was specific to where that business actually was rather than starting from a blank page.
The Results
The greatest output was the one every growth programme chases and few deliver: participants finished with genuine clarity and control over their business, knowing exactly what they are building, why, and what to do next.
